The latest 3.519.0 firmware update for the Pixel Buds A-series is causing Bluetooth pairing issues for those that have installed it on their wireless earbuds.
[Update 02/01]: Google has confirmed that a fix for Bluetooth connection issues that have been inadvertently introduced with the 3.519.0 firmware update for the Pixel Buds A-series is coming soon. In a post on the Google Pixel Buds Help forums, the company has acknowledged the issues that we and many other users are experiencing and confirmed that a fix will begin rolling out by Monday, February 6:
We are aware of an issue with our latest firmware update for Pixel Buds A-Series (v3.519.0) that affected some users’ ability to connect Pixel Buds A-Series to a second device (e.g. moving the connection from your phone to your tablet). We apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. An update that remedies this behavior will be rolled out to 100% of users by Monday, February 6th.
In the meantime, Google has suggested that anyone who has not updated their earbuds, avoid doing so until the next firmware build is made available. We advise disabling the auto-update function by heading to Settings > Bluetooth > Select your Pixel Buds A-series > Tap the settings icon > More settings > Firmware update > Disable “Automatic updates.”
Although only a minor bump from firmware version 3.514 which was released back in October, version 3.519.0 has introduced an annoying bug that prevents your Pixel Buds A-series from entering Bluetooth pairing mode. This update only started rolling out just yesterday, but reports have grown on the Google Pixel Buds support pages and the /r/GooglePixel subreddit.
We have since been able to replicate the same issue when attempting to pair with existing devices. Prior to manually updating, pressing and holding the Bluetooth pairing key would initiate the Fast Pair process with compatible Android devices.
